Delayed Contact/Family edition

How would you get along with your sibling(s), parent(s), or any other person you’ve known for a long time — if you only met them for the first time today? Today’s daily prompt.

The people I have known the longest are my siblings and parents. I doubt I would get along with any of them if I met them for the first time today. I really can’t tell about my father, since he died when I was 9. But knowing his elder son, I sincerely doubt I would have found him “friend” material.  I would probably be friendly, if not close, with my mother, because she had funny stories to tell. But the rest and I don’t get along now, and probably never will again. I can’t imagine developing a relationship with any of them, if I were to meet them today.

I’m surprised how many people are at best indifferent to their closest family. You hear all these statistics about broken families and never quite believe them until you read about as many as I have via this prompt, including my own. Thank you for sharing.
